FAQ

  • What frequency/length do you suggest for therapy sessions?

My answer is always to trust yourself and determine this as you go. With frequency, you may decide to book weekly or biweekly, and then cancel sessions if you need more integration time. Or you may just book sessions intermittently, as you feel called. As well, it can be good to consider that you may need more or less time after certain sessions. Sometimes people want to book twice in a week to really work on something, or they may wait months before feeling the need to check back in. With length, the same applies. You may vary in the amount of time you feel would benefit you for sessions. Trust your gut!

  • How should I prepare for therapy?

    Secure Location
Make sure you are in a secure location without distractions or people you do not want overhearing your session.

    Technology
Make sure you have a stable Internet connection. You may want to close programs and/or turn off the Internet connection on other devices during the session. If you struggle with your connection, you might consider using an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to your router. As well, it can be beneficial to have your device set up so that you can be hands free during your session (in particular for EMDR).

    Post-Session Time
I recommend you leave yourself at least a half hour after your session to engage in self-care as you may need some time to integrate and regulate post-session.

  • What will we do in the first session?

This is completely up to you. I will first check in with you about how you’re feeling arriving to that first session. I take a client-centred approach, meaning that I aim to follow your own system’s guidance. This means that you may come to your first session knowing exactly what you want to do, or I can offer you options of how we might begin, allowing you to feel into which feels best for you. You may be ready to dive into working with IFS or EMDR, or you may want to share more of your story and/or situation with me. The latter can also be a way to establish more of a sense of therapeutic relational safety before doing deeper work together.

  • What if I need to cancel a session?

You are able to cancel your session a cancellation link in your confirmation email.

I ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice, so that other clients have a chance to book that time. If cancelled within 24 hours, you will be charged for the session.

  • What happens if I show up late for a session?

The session will go until the original end time, so you will not be compensated for the missed time.

  • Are you covered by my medical insurance plan?

I am registered as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in BC and a Canadian Clinical Counsellor (CCC) in Canada. You will need to check if these designations are covered by your particular insurance plan. After payment of each session, you will receive a receipt which you can submit to your insurance provider for their provided reimbursement up to the annual maximum.

  • What methods of payment do you accept?

I only accept e-transfer at this time. Payment information will be provided on your invoice.
